Genocide Survivors – Poetry of Hope and Peace

Genocide Survivors

By Talin Mari

On this day of sorrow,

So many lost their lives,

With nothing left for tomorrow,

They unwillingly said their goodbyes.

In the light of hope they existed,

One step brightening another,

Hope brought by the unanticipated,

Since a life of racist hate brings sorrow.

Waking now to a blank slate,

They walked effortlessly forward,

With love in their hearts and their fate,

They moved to the sunrise and onward.

Feeling lights of love in the soul,

Shunning hate to those that are ignorant,

Preaching kindness to heal the heart’s hole,

They embraced each other’s scarred dents.

Blazing Sun – Lyrical Poem

Blazing Sun, Lyrical

By Talin Mari

I found you in the middle,

Of a bridge down South Street.

Your eyes full of life,

And your loving words so sweet.

I grabbed your hand,

You pulled away,

Turned and looked,

The other way,

You left me in a daze,

Making me feel

Like I’m in a haze,

On this foggy bridge.

Baby,

The day is young,

Let’s run around

The blazing sun.

Hold me till

The night comes round

And we can blaze

The night away.

I’ll hold your hand,

Never letting you go.

The days may pass,

But my heart still flows.

With your love,

I know your hurt

Will flow down

The river with dirt.

Let me show you love,

The love that grows.

Let me show you me,

Beyond these woes.

Baby,

The day is young,

Let’s run around

The blazing sun.

Hold me till

The night comes round

And we can blaze

The night away.

The day is young,

Let’s run around

The blazing sun.

Hold me till

The night comes round

And we can blaze

The night away.

Unrestricted Poetry – Stopping Censorship of Words

Standard

Unrestricted Poetry

by Talin Mari

How can I write poetry when I know it will be read?

How can I put words on a page that will be criticized?

Censorship is an unspoken weighted chain on a writer’s pen.

Censorship is the undesired halt of all creative beginnings.

If I write the words that must be read because they are truths,

If I write these words without any type of coerced inhibition,

Will you stop them from reflecting the world around us?

Will you change them to fit your own form of poetry?

My words belong to me…

My voice is my identity…

My heart pours out in words…

My soul drifts freely in poetry…

Love Beyond War’s Destiny Poem

Love Beyond War’s Destiny

by Talin Mari

There are love stories that last a lifetime,

Our love story has stayed true to the heart’s chime.

When I met you, your eyes studied me,

The softness of your iris blended with the blue sea.

The moments we shared were timeless,

Walking among the evergreens with a soft caress.

The leaves embracing our every stride,

Fondly, we found our way to the park bench satisfied.

Your soft lips,

Your gentle touch,

Your endless embrace,

Infinite,

Incredible,

Immeasurable.

Love with infinite chimes.

Gently holding my hands masked with tears,

You told me you would depart for only a few years.

The love burning inside me feeling despair,

Knowing that you would never return from warfare.

The skies were covered with red smoke,

The evergreens that transformed into veins broke.

Blood dripped to the floor with reality,

Knowing that your doomed fate was a possibility.

Tragedy haunted me,

Tragedy destroyed my soul,

Tragedy created my warped destiny.

I held your hand as you kissed me goodbye,

My love story had become an incomplete lullaby.

Slowly you slid your hand away from mine,

Realizing that you had to leave for war this time.

I fell to the floor marked by my red tears,

The skies darkened as I became limp with fears.

My heart beat faster as I knew your destiny,

Becoming one with mine as we reunited eternally.

Love in the evergreens,

Love fallen, but found,

Love with its chime.

Love, only love…

Poetry – The Phone Call

Phone Call

by Talin Mari

Waiting impatiently for the call,

Nothing delays it from arriving.

The phone rings,

The heart beats,

The soul softens,

The voice echoes,

The eyes imagine,

The phone clicks.

Sliding softly in the silky chair,

Imagination is only left stirring.

Censorship – Poetry

Censorship

by Talin Mari

My words will never be censored,

They will echo in everyone’s ears.

My words will tell all the stories,

The ones that no one wants to hear.

My words are the truths that I see,

They are hidden among the crowd.

My words paint a colorful picture,

The ones that look clearer at night.

Censorship breeds hate in this world,

Acceptance is a word we must know.

Censorship breeds lack of innovation,

Acceptance is the path to our liberty.

Avant-Garde Writer – Poem

Avant-Garde Writer

By Talin Mari

I write in the dark like the avant-garde,

Moving from café to café without regard.

With my coffee cup always on my side,

I write feverishly throughout the night.

My dreams and ambitions floating about,

One word at a time I think is only allowed.

Chaos forms as I think of the past times,

Write, write, write them all in these lines.

No longer caring about a given structure,

I am the avant-garde destined to revolt.

The rhymes becomes non-existent here,

As I realize that it is I that am the change.

Rise up and create your own destination,

Be your own life’s unconventional rebel.

These are the thoughts that run rampant,

As I write in the dark like an avant-garde.
