Avant-Garde Writer

By Talin Mari

I write in the dark like the avant-garde,

Moving from café to café without regard.

With my coffee cup always on my side,

I write feverishly throughout the night.

My dreams and ambitions floating about,

One word at a time I think is only allowed.

Chaos forms as I think of the past times,

Write, write, write them all in these lines.

No longer caring about a given structure,

I am the avant-garde destined to revolt.

The rhymes becomes non-existent here,

As I realize that it is I that am the change.

Rise up and create your own destination,

Be your own life’s unconventional rebel.

These are the thoughts that run rampant,

As I write in the dark like an avant-garde.

Poetry for Time, the Soul, and Love

Standard

Time for the Soul
by Talin Mari

Time calms the tumultuous soul,
Creating echoes of distant waves.
Time heals the hurtful exchanges,
Creating memories with its words.

Despite feeling the calming tides,
The new time is no longer the same.
Despite hearing the healing words,
The new time is only a fake reality.

With time, change is only desired,
With time, living means to be alive,
With time, freedom is yearned for,
With time, love is the only solution.

Life changes the events set in time,
Life moves the soul unexpectedly,
Life finds the hidden puzzled love,
Life evolves our bewildered souls.

Wake Me – A Poem

Wake Me

By Talin Mari

Wake up, sweet soul,

Wake up, sweet misery,

Wake my heart today.

Worn out, weak limbs,

Worn out, feeble mind,

Worn with stories to tell.

Enlighten, my dull life,

Enlighten, my aspirations,

Enlighten with desires.

Ignite, my curious mind,

Ignite, my cold breath,

Ignite to give back my life.

Kiss My Hand: Poetic Fury

“Kiss my Hand”

By Talin Mari

Kiss my hand, kiss my soul,

Let the acid burn this hole.

Leave me be, leave me out,

I have nothing left to doubt.

Kiss my hand, kiss my soul,

Let the lies begin to unfold.

Transparency is unknown,

A word, not really shown.

Kindness is only expected,

A gesture, not reciprocated.

Kiss my hand, kiss my soul,

Let the tears reveal its hold.

Untie my heart, untie myself,

It is I who stays on this shelf.

Kiss my hand, kiss my soul,

Unleash the truth to be told.

Silently Waiting: Poetic Expression

Silently Waiting

By Talin Mari

Staying silent, thinking that time will standstill,

I wait to stay unnoticed by all that will fulfill.

Suppressed in my heart, a yearning to creep out,

The shell I created cannot easily break apart.

Shadows around me slowly rise to the heavens,

While I wait silently, the years passing hasten.

Break the shell,

Break the indecision,

Break the words that hold me back,

Break the barriers that I cannot hack.

Staying silent, embracing my avenue of inhibition,

I realize my thick shell will hinder my composition.

Suppressed in my heart, watching it slowly collide,

The colors and shapes lose their once unique side.

Images become clear as I slowly glide forward,

No longer waiting, the years entice me aboard.

Reveal the hope, no longer hidden by my silence,

Reveal the life, once lost in the shadows waiting.

Breaking the silence, no longer waiting indefinitely,

Revealing my words, joining each sentence uniquely.

My mom spent the entire day crying today.  As I walked in to her room this morning, she was sculpting away with tears in her eyes.  I sat on her bed trying to console her, but I also started to cry.  I miss my father.  I know she misses him as much as I do.

I really couldn’t do much.  My mom spent her day in her room sculpting her tears into unique creations.  I spent my day in my room too.  I was too heartbroken to go outside and explore.  I can’t believe he hasn’t been with us for three months now.  I keep waiting for my dad to open the living room door, but I know that will never happen.

November 11

I’ve been really busy filling out my college applications.  I didn’t realize that it is so hard to get into a college.  It was really funny when I asked my mom for a recommendation letter for college.  I couldn’t stop laughing!

Today, I visited the cave with the dandelion.  The funny thing is that there was another dandelion that had grown in the place of the one that the wind had blown away.  I still felt hesitant to go inside the cave, but I decided to take a peak inside.  I could hear the crinkling noise of water echoing in the cave.

Just as I was about to gain the courage to walk deeper into the cave, I heard a noise coming from the distant trees. I didn’t know if it was from the footsteps of a bobcat or some other animal.  I started to panic.  As I ran away from the cave, Robbie jumped in front of me.  I screamed!  He couldn’t stop laughing.

We walked back to my house. Robbie told me that he followed my trail to the cave.  He had come to my house with his dad for dinner.  I wish my mom would have told me.  I nearly had a heart attack!

I hadn’t seen Robbie for a couple of weeks. My mom didn’t let me go to the beach with him.  She keeps on telling me that she wants me to stay close to her.  I don’t know why she’s so excited about me going off to college if she doesn’t even want me to go to the beach with Robbie.
